Looking Forward to Spring Print E-mail

Peace to all your homes and congregations!

Spring is upon us, and if you happen to live in Oklahoma, that means rain. Showers of blessing!

"So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD.
His going forth is as certain as the dawn;
And He will come to us like the rain,
Like the spring rain watering the earth."
Hosea 6:3 NAS

March was another busy month for Drama Drash, with two successful performances of Lots of Trouble in the Citadel, a melodrama based on the biblical book of Esther. Not only did God open the doors to two fine opportunities to minister to the Church, we also made new friends and ministry partners.

Now, whether or not we believe Jesus is coming soon, few can deny that something very exciting is happening in the Body of Messiah. More and more, believers are able to cross racial, social, and denominational barriers to worship, study, and fellowship together, and Drama Drash is proud to be a part of this movement to unity.

While each performance had some minor setbacks, both church families at St. Paul's United Methodist and New Life Fellowship warmly recieved the Drama Drash ministers and were very encouraging with their audience participation. With only three weeks notice, and in the middle of another production, Drama Drash had to really pull our bootstraps to get the show on the road, so to speak. Because of everyone's busy schedules, we only had a few rehearsals with the entire cast. Then on the morning of our March 16th performance at St. Paul's, the actress who was playing Zeresh, Haman's wife, fell ill. Luckily, Emily was brave enough to step up to the plate. She did a terrific job and pretty much assured herself of winning a Drashie this year. Pastor Mike had to bail out of the March 19th performance at New Life, due to his work schedule. Daniel stepped in at the last minute, adding a very droll side to Hatach--not at all lost on the New Life family. Daniel literally walked away with the show--another Drashie award, for sure!

Mind you, both Daniel and Emily came from "my quiver," and David did tell us that our children would be a blessing, amen? God is good! And, thanks again to my wonderful and talented children for helping out!

Now, Drama Drash is gearing up for maybe one of our most important performances, Do This in Memory of Me, a dramatized Passover to be performed at St. Paul's United Methodist in Lawton, OK. Do This in Memory of Me places a reenactment of the Last Supper side-by-side with the traditional Jewish Seder. The Messianic implications of this ceremony will be highlighted.

This Seder (Order or Ceremony) will be audience participation. That means, the entire audience will take part. There will also be a meal served. There is no charge for admission but seats must be reserved by April 15th, 2008 by calling (580) 355-5757. You won't want to miss this performance, but plan to be there awhile. A Passover Seder does take a little time, but it will be time well spent.

Our next major production will be another Bible Investigator adventure; Ten Little Lost Tribes. We have had a church express interest in hosting this event, but I won't post details until I'm more certain on dates and times. Look for a late June or early July performance. And, keep in mind, we need LOTS of men for this show. You don't have to be a Drama Drash Minister to take part in our productions. If the Spirit leads you, give us a call at (580)704-1983 or email Shirley at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Meanwhile, Drama Drash still meets for a fellowship meal, worship, prayer, and study on Friday nights. Pastor Dowell from New Life Fellowship was gracious enough to present each cast member with a copy of his workbook, "Achieving Your Goals." We've been working on it together and it has been a tremendous blessing. I encourage everyone to check it out at www.newlifelawton.org

Let's look forward to these performances not fearing attack from an angry enemy but rejoicing in the triumph through our Lord! Stay dry, warm, and healthy during these rainy months. Pray for each other. Support and encourage each other. Most of all, love each other!

Peace and Blessing,

Shirley

For ground that drinks the rain which often falls upon it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned.
Hebrew 6: 7,8 NAS
